Crazy breakfast diet ideas are nothing new. In fact, years ago, a number of outlandish fad diets were wildly popular, such as the pineapple diet and the grapefruit diet. As you may know, these diets were based around the idea that the person would only eat only that particular fruit for ten days! Weight loss requires consistency, so gobbling fruit only for a week and a half isn’t a recipe for sustainable, healthy, weight loss.
Extreme diets like these are not only boring due to their lack of variety, but they are simply unhealthy. Your body needs a variety of vitamins and minerals, not to mention protein, that are best obtained from the food in your daily diet. This is one reason why junk food is so bad…no nutrients, just calories and preservatives.
So what should you eat at breakfast to help you lose weight?
If you haven’t done so already, toss your sugary cereals into the trash, because loading your body with sugar first thing in the morning is a terrible way to start the day. There are better options. In fact, many physicians recommend eating oatmeal for breakfast daily to their patients who need to lose weight. Why oatmeal? It it high in fiber and doesn’t break down quickly. Because it stays in your stomach longer than other foods, it prevents you from feeling hungry too soon. We sell delicious, high-protein, low carb oatmeal here at Low Carb Cabana, which you can find here. This is a great option because traditional oatmeal is loaded with empty carbs. You could also try meal replacement shakes from our store, like our strawberry shake (see here) if mornings are always a rush for you.
A traditional favorite is two eggs and a piece of whole grain toast. In fact, that’s what my grandfather ate nearly every morning. He lived to 93, so I’m not sure there’s a correlation, but it definitely didn’t hurt him. In fact, there’s a study that shows people who ate two eggs and toast for breakfast lost weight quicker than those that ate bagels or muffins. While toast is the perfect thing in the morning, don’t ruin it with high sugar jams and jellies. Be sure to use a sugar-free fruit spread on your toast like these. The eggs and whole grains will help to keep you fuller longer.
If you love cereal, you don’t have to give it up completely. In fact, we sell a number of healthy breakfast cereals that are packed with protein, vitamins, and minerals. You can have a look here to see our honey nut cereal, a customer favorite.
If you’re more adventurous, give tofu a try. A lot of people are afraid to try Tofu. It is soy protein that fills you up quickly. Like oatmeal, it will stick to your ribs and prevent you from hungry longer. Another thing people like about tofu, especially those who prefer savory breakfast foods over sugary ones, is that it takes the flavor of anything you season with.
Last but not least….pears. They are a high fiber fruit that fills you up fast and is easy to take on the go.
