The conventional wisdom about working out 30 minutes a day to stay fit is a good rule of thumb…unless fast food and junk food play a role in your diet. In that case, 30 minutes of brisk walking won’t even burn the equivalent number of calories found in a chocolate chip cookie or candy bar. It’s no secret that we’re big fans of walking as a form of exercise, and we’ve written about it a great deal in articles like this. However, we’re also dedicated to being factual about how weight loss works, and when there’s an imbalance between exercise levels and empty calories, the calories are going to win every time. Of course, we’re not saying there’s anything wrong with enjoying a sugary treat here and there, but you should know what you’re getting into before indulging.
